Major Fundraiser Funds Elementary School Choir Trip To State Capital

Christopher C. Herring (center -bottom) worked with local business owners in San Antonio, Texas to support funding the Harmony Hills School choir invitation to sing at the Texas State Capital. After meeting with school officials and determining the need, Mr. Herring raised over a thousand dollars with food sponsors to support the trip. Mr. Herring is a two time recipient of the NEISD Superintendent Leadership Award. Sponsors included Las Palapas, Chase Bank, Little Italy, CiCi’s Pizza (Austin) and New Horizons School.

Christopher Herring Earns Superintendent’s Award

The Superintendent’s Award is a special recognition given to members of the North East ISD community. The Superintendent’s Awards are presented by the superintendent to employees, students, parents, taxpayers, volunteers and community members who display exceptional performance in their action and behavior to continue the district’s tradition of excellence. The objective of this award is to recognize performance above and beyond expectations in support of the district’s mission. Christopher Herring will receive the Superintendent’s Awards reception on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Community Learning Center.

Herring selected as Executive Director, Operation OASIS…Serving Wounded Warriors and Their Families!

February 2012 San Antonio: Operation OASIS, a 501(c)3 registered in the state of Texas, has appointed Christopher C. Herring as the Executive Director of Operations to lead the Wounded warrior and family support efforts of Operation OASIS.

Christopher has a very rich background as a business owner, recently retired officer from the United States Air Force who has been a commander, deployed into Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, led an Air Force family support center, and hasleadership experiences working with nonprofits, schools and churches. His last position was the Chief Strategist for Air Force Recruiting Services at Randolph Air Force Base.

In May 2009, Christopher had a car accident on Pat Booker Road which almost took his life. He gives God the glory for saving him. In that experience, Christopher was treated at the Brooks Army Medical Center in the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic along side wounded warriors who had been returned from Iraq and Afghanistan and being treated with similiar injuries. His personal journey and recovery enabled him to see the importance of helping our wounded soldiers and bringing the smiles back to very young faces as they heal.

Christopher was a 2009 Combined Federal Campaign and United Way Loaned Executive for Bexar County helping the campaign raise over $45 million dollars for San Antonio charities. As he spoke to San Antonio, he raised financial support for the Fisher House, the Warrior and Family Support Center – Brooke Army Medical Center, and the American Red Cross Military for Muster Event.

He is completing his 2nd year as the Chairman of the Alamo Arts Ballet Theatre, appointed to the Texas A&M San Antonio Institutional Review Board, and is the Coordinator for the Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) at Harmony Hills Elementary School. At the conclusion of 2011, Mayor Julian Castro appointed Christopher to the City Of San Antonio’s Small Business Advisory Committee to help grow our local economy. The Board of Trustees appreciate the 20-year service of Mr. Herring and his passion to serve his community.
